Dear Chilli Ranch Friends,

We’re excited to share what’s been happening at the Chilli Ranch and what’s coming up next. Whether you’ve visited us recently or it’s been a while, there’s always something new and spicy happening here!

Highlights from the Past Month:

1. Tunnel repairs and preparation: We’ve been busy building new polytunnel doors, re-skinning one of our polytunnels, and preparing them for plants. A big thank you to our wonderful volunteers from Switch Now and Shuttleworth College for their invaluable help!

2. Re-potting and Planting: Despite the cold nights until the end of April, we’re in the middle of re-potting thousands of chilli plants and getting them planted out into the tunnels.

3. Farm Shop Expansion: Following the closure of the Black Cat Farm Shop, we’ve expanded our Farm Shop. We now stock local products like Mrs. Middleton’s Natural Rapeseed Oils (original and chilli-infused), Hot Scotch hot sauce from Cople, locally produced charcoal from Wassledine Farm, and apple juice from Watergull Orchards.

4. Hosting Experiences: We’ve had a fantastic time hosting our chilli cookery workshops. Check out some pictures from last weekend’s Chilli Sauce and Jam Making workshop!

5. Out and About: We’ve been active at local farm and craft markets, including Great Staughton Food and Craft Market, Buckden Farmers Craft Market, and Gransdens Farmers Market.

What’s Coming Up Next Month:

1. Father’s Day Barbecue & Live Music: Join us on Sunday, 16 June 2024, from noon to 4 pm for our annual Father’s Day Barbecue. Enjoy live music by Beans and Biscuits, delicious barbecue food, hot and cold drinks, free chilli tastings, and a variety of plants for sale.

2. Continued Planting: We will continue re-potting and planting out our chilli plants in the polytunnels. Plants are available for sale both onsite and online.

3. Upcoming Experiences: Our first chilli tour and tasting experience of the season on 1 June is fully booked, but plenty of other tours are available throughout the season. Don’t miss our next Chilli Sauce and Jam Making workshop on 29 June—there are still a few spaces left!
