Covid-19 Update 17 April 2021:  Chilli Shop and Plant Nursery are open from today.

Farm Shop and Plant Nursery re-open to the public:  In line with the UK Governments guidelines we are really pleased to announce our business is partially re-opening.  The plant nursery and farm shop are open from today.  Our opening hours are Saturday, Sunday’s, and Bank Holiday’s between 11am and 4pm.

Café:
The Chilli Ranch Cafe’ remains closed; however, we will resume serving food on 22 May 2021 with a brand new menu and we look forward to welcoming you.

Chilli Experiences:
All Chilli Experiences will resume from 22 May 2021.  If you have a voucher we would encourage you to go ahead and make the booking as soon as possible.  We have made dates available for all of our experiences.

Regarding Vouchers: If you have one of our vouchers (issued by Edible Ornamentals/Chilli Ranch) it is automatically valid for any available date in 2021. If you have a voucher issued by one of our third party partners you must contact them directly to get the validity dates extended.

Click and Collect:  You can purchase all of our products right here on our website and either have your products delivered to your front door by Royal Mail or a courier or choose the Click and Collect option and collect the following business day between 11am and 3pm.

IMPORTANT: If you do visit the site and you don’t see anyone PLEASE RING THE BELL which is located next to the gate.

When you visit the site:

Masks will be mandatory if you are stood up and walking around in an enclosed space, such as the farm shop or greenhouse (unless you are medically exempt).
Please maintain social distancing.
There are several hand sanitizing stations on site that we request you use, including at tasting tables, at the till, and in the greenhouse. You are also welcomed to bring your own hand sanitizer.
When customers are present, staff will wear masks in the greenhouse and café, unless exempt

Covid-19 Update 13 March 2021:  Re-opening dates

In line with the UK Governments instructions we can now share our re-opening dates.

In order to keep our employees and customers safe and to comply with government requirements the Chilli Ranch, including the Cafe’, Farm Shop, Plant Nursery will remain closed to the public until further notice (except for CLICK and COLLECT orders placed on the website).

Chilli Experiences:
All Chilli Experiences are suspended until further notice. If you have a voucher and you would like to book for a ‘future’ date (later in 2021 when hopefully things improve) we would encourage you to go ahead and make the booking. If circumstances do change and those events later in 2021 need to be postponed we will contact you. We will aim to keep our customers updated on changes and we would encourage you to join our mailing list and follow us on our various social media platforms to stay up-to-date with the latest.

Covid-19 Update 17 December 2020:  Bedfordshire enters Tier 3.
We continue to monitor the changing Tier situation and related rules relating to Covid-19.  Our top priority is to keep our employees and customers safe.

Chilli Experiences:
Today we have been informed that Bedfordshire is moving into Tier 3 and it is with great regret that we must cancel all scheduled experiences.   We are emailing all customers with bookings now.    In the upcoming weeks we will be opening up new dates that you can book in 2021 and we would encourage customers to make new bookings as soon as possible.   We will keep our customers updated on changes and we would encourage you to join our mailing list and follow us on our various social media platforms to stay up-to-date with the latest.  Vouchers:  If you have one of our vouchers (issued by Edible Ornamentals) it is automatically valid for any available date in 2021.  If you have a voucher to visit us that was purchased from a third party company you must contact them directly for an extension.

Café:

Covid-19 Update 13 December 2020
Here at Edible Ornamentals, we are continuing to monitor the changing situation and rules relating to Covid-19.  Our top priority continues to be to keep our employees and customers safe.  Following the end of the latest lockdown in England, we have, once again, updated our risk assessment and made appropriate changes to our operations in order to comply with the newest government guidelines.

Importantly, we are in Bedfordshire which means we are in Tier 2.  The first rule of Tier 2, that you may not socialize indoors with someone you don’t live with or who is not within your social bubble.  This could affect the plans of our customers who intend to visit so we have written to everyone who is booked in and we would ask everyone thinking of visiting to make sure they comply with all of the Tier 2 rules.  More detailed information about the various Tiers and restrictions may be found on the.GOV website here:

Chilli experiences:

If you visit:

  • Please bear in mind that according to current Tier 2 rules you may not visit indoors (for example in the cafe’) if you intend to meet someone you do not live with or who is outside your support bubble.
  • Masks will be mandatory if you are stood up and walking around in an enclosed space, such as the farm shop or greenhouse (unless you are medically exempt).
  • Please maintain social distancing.
  • In the greenhouse, we do request you also wear a face covering, unless medically exempt.

Our chilli experiences have been suspended until at least 2 December 2020.  We have sent cancellation emails to all customers who were booked into tours, workshops or afternoon tea and tasting sessions between now and that date.  We have made slots available to book ‘after’ the 2nd of December and we would encourage customers to book these dates; however, we can’t guarantee they will go ahead.  We will keep our booked customers updated on changes and we would encourage you to join our mailing list and follow us on our various social media platforms to keep in touch with the latest.  Vouchers:  If you have one of our vouchers it is automatically valid for any available date in 2021.  If you have a voucher to visit us that was purchased from a third party company you must contact them directly for an extension.

Here at Edible Ornamentals, we are working hard to keep our customers safe while beginning to resume usual activities at the Chilli Ranch. As per the new government advice, we have conducted a risk assessment and have made appropriate changes.
Chilli experiences:
Our chilli experiences have re-started.  Bookings are now being taken for experiences over autumn and winter, so if you have a voucher please feel free to book. However, if you do not wish to attend yet, there is no rush as all vouchers purchased from ourselves are automatically extended by a year. If you have purchased an experience via a third-party company, please contact them for an extension if needed.
Shop and Café:
For the time being, we are maintaining our temporary shop opening hours of 11 am – 3 pm seven days a week, to spread customers out to make social distancing easier.
The Café is open again and opening hours will be 11 am – 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. We will be offering a limited menu of drinks and cakes only – no meals will be served for the time being other than the pre-booked Chilli Afternoon Tea.
Social Distancing Practices:

  • Masks will be mandatory if you are stood up and walking around in an enclosed space, such as the café or greenhouse (unless you are medically exempt).
  • During outside tours, you do not have to wear a mask but please maintain social distancing.
  • In the greenhouse, we do request you also wear a face covering, unless medically exempt.
  • There are several hands sanitizing stations on-site that we request you use, including at tasting tables, at the till, and in the greenhouse. You are also welcomed to bring your own hand sanitiser.
    – We are currently operating a one-way system in the greenhouse and this will continue until social distancing restrictions are lifted further.
  • We have reduced capacity and have rearranged the café and patio to ensure social distancing between tables.
  • We have reduced capacity of tours, workshops, and afternoon teas to meet social distancing guidelines.
  • We made changes to the chilli experiences to ensure social distance can be maintained. For example, each couple will have their own tasting table.
  • When customers are present, staff will wear masks in the greenhouse and café, unless exempt
  • We cannot serve social groups of more than 6 people, as per government guidelines

Test and Trace

  • If you have a pre-booked experience we will use these details for Test and Trace unless informed otherwise.
  • Customers having food/drink in the café must scan the QR code located in the café or provided details from at least one member of the group, and these will be kept for 21 days
  • Customers having food/drink in the café who refuse to comply with test and trace will be refused this service, as per government guidelines

Covid-19 Update 30th June 2020
Here at Edible Ornamentals, we are working hard to keep our customers safe while beginning to resume usual activities at the Chilli Ranch. As per the new government advice, we have conducted a risk assessment and are in the process of making changes to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment.

Chilli experiences:
Our chilli experiences will be restarting in a few weeks time. Bookings are now being taken for experiences over the summer and autumn, so if you have a voucher please feel free to book. However, if you do not wish to attend yet, there is no rush as all vouchers purchased from ourselves are automatically extended by a year. If you have purchased an experience via a third party company, please contact them for an extension if needed.

Shop and Café:
For the time being, we are maintaining our temporary shop opening hours of 11 am – 3 pm seven days a week, to spread customers out to make social distancing easier.
The Café will open from 12th July. Opening hours will be 11 am – 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. We will be offering a limited menu of drinks and cakes only – no meals will be served for the time being other than the pre-booked Chilli Afternoon Tea.

Social Distancing Practices:
We are currently operating a one-way system in the greenhouse and this will continue until social distancing restrictions are lifted further.
Hand sanitiser will be available at entrances and key locations such as the till. We ask all our customers to wash or sanitise their hands upon arrival.
We are rearranging the café and patio to ensure social distancing between tables.
We are making some changes to the chilli experiences to ensure social distance can be maintained. For example, two tasting tables will be used on the chilli experiences so people can socially distance while tasting the sauces and fresh chillies. Instead of the usual crackers, single-use coffee stirring sticks will be used for tasting the sauces.
